Turning Pain Into Purpose. Silence Into Voice. Experience Into Change

Dr. Rosilda Alves does not approach healing from a distance.
She understands it professionally.
She understands it personally.
And she has dedicated her life to helping others understand that what happened to them does not have to define what comes next.

Meet Dr. Rosilda Alves

My Work. My Mission. My Promise.

My Work.
My Mission.
My Promise.

Through every book I write, every person I support, every audience I speak to, and every community I serve, my promise is the same:

I will use my voice to create space for truth.
I will challenge the silence that allows suffering to remain hidden.
I will advocate for children and survivors who deserve to be heard and believed.
I will bring compassion into conversations that are often difficult to have.

And I will continue working toward a world where healing is possible, dignity is restored, and no one is left believing they must carry their pain alone.

My books, my clinical work, and my philanthropy may reach people in different ways—but they grow from the same belief:

Every voice matters. Every story deserves to be heard. And everyone deserves the opportunity to heal.

About Dr. Rosilda Alves

About
Dr. Rosilda Alves

Born in Cabo Verde and raised in the United States from the age of eleven, Rosilda’s life has been shaped by culture, migration, adversity, education, faith, trauma, healing, and transformation.

Her personal experiences gave her an intimate understanding of what silence can cost. Her education gave her tools to better understand trauma. Her clinical career gave her the opportunity to help others. And eventually, writing and advocacy gave her a platform to challenge the cultural and generational systems that allow abuse to remain hidden.

Today, she brings all of those experiences together.

Author. Psychologist. Survivor. Speaker. Advocate. Philanthropist.

Different roles.
One mission.

To help people find their voice and create a safer path toward healing.

“I cannot change what happened yesterday. But I can help create a different tomorrow.”

With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Alves has worked with adults, couples, families, first responders, trauma survivors, and professionals in a wide range of clinical environments.

Her work has included trauma-informed care, complex PTSD treatment, sexual-abuse recovery, EMDR therapy, couples therapy, sex therapy, crisis intervention, and culturally responsive mental-health treatment.

Her therapeutic philosophy recognizes that healing is deeply personal. Rather than forcing people into one model of treatment, she draws from multiple therapeutic approaches to meet individuals where they are.

Rosilda writes because some truths are too important to leave unspoken.

Her books explore trauma, secrecy, courage, protection, faith, resilience, recovery, and the extraordinary power of being believed.

The Garden of Secrets speaks to survivors, families, and communities confronting the long-term effects of abuse and silence.

Her illustrated Garden of Healing series brings those conversations to younger readers through compassionate stories designed to help children recognize difficult emotions, understand that unsafe secrets should be shared, and know that trusted adults can help.

“A book can begin a conversation that someone has been waiting years to have.”

For Rosilda, awareness without action is not enough.

Her advocacy grew into the Foundation for Hope & Healing, created to help protect and empower children affected by abuse and exploitation.

The Foundation supports programs and partnerships focused on protection, psychological healing, education, advocacy, basic needs, and long-term empowerment.

“Hope begins with action. Join us in restoring dignity, delivering justice, and building a future free from abuse. Together, we can make healing possible.”

A Life Built Around One Question

What would change if people knew they were safe enough to speak?

That question lives inside Rosilda’s books.
It lives inside the therapy room.
It lives inside her workshops.
And it lives inside every program supported through the Foundation for Hope & Healing.

Because when someone is heard, something changes.
When someone is believed, something changes.
When someone discovers they are not alone, everything can change.
